Sherman County Community Transit provides public transportation service throughout Sherman County to The Dalles, Portland and other cities for shopping, medical appointments and special events. Sherman County receives Oregon Department of Transportation [ODOT] Special Transportation Fund [STF] dollars and Federal 5310 Capital Funds to provide public transportation for seniors, disabled persons, and others as space allows. Seniors and riders with disabilities have priority; bring a car seat for younger riders. Donations of $5 per ride are suggested.
Veterans and those on Medicaid have additional resources for rides to and from medical appointments. Veterans call transportation dispatch at 1 (877) 875-4657 in The Dalles for pickups; Medicaid recipients call the Medicaid Brokerage in The Dalles, at 1 (877) 875-4657, to arrange for private pickups. Donations are accepted.
