You can take your recycling to one of these self-haul depots: Grass Valley (Mondays and Tuesdays, 1 to 3 p.m.); Moro (second Fridays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), Wasco (third Fridays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), and Rufus (fourth Fridays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
Free hazardous waste collections are provided in May (Moro) and November (Wasco) by the TriCounty Hazardous Waste & Recycling Program serving Sherman, Wasco, and Hood River counties. At these annual events, you also can recycle electronics such as TVs and cell phones, and turn in unwanted medications. For more information, contact www.tricountyrecycle.com.
