Driver Education

Sherman County is an Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) approved driver education provider.  Students must be 15-18 years of age and have a Driver Instruction Permit or Driver License to take this course.

Driver Education is offered in the spring at a fee of $75.00.  Classroom hours are 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m., Monday - Thursday at the Sherman County Public/School Library Meeting Room.  Instruction begins the last week of February and runs through the first week of June.   Behind the wheel training (BTW) is scheduled after school and on weekends and is completed by the middle of June.

Students 15-17 years of age who enroll and successfully complete the ODOT class will be issued a card certifying that they have met all class requirements.  When this card is presented to DMV while applying for a Provisional Driver License, the drive test is waived. Please note: Students 18 years of age will receive a Sherman County certificate of completion but will not receive the ODOT issued certification card.
